The Killington Search and Rescue (KSAR) team was formed more than a dozen years ago based on a need from within the backcountry and recreational community. 

The all volunteer team falls  under the auspices of The Killington Police Department. Funding comes from the town of Killington. KSAR's mission is to Locate, stabilize and transport patients to a higher level of care.

The KSAR foundation was created to help the community support the efforts of the all volunteer search and rescue team. Gear is expensive AND training is expensive. The goal of fundraising is to reduce the amount of personal gear members use and reduce cost to local taxpayers for their services.

The KSAR Foundation is a charitable 501(c)(3) organization separate from the Town of Killington. All money raised outside of administrative costs goes toward the purchase of gear and training for the KSAR team.
